Meetings of the conferences of the parties to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions
The ordinary and extraordinary meetings of the conferences of the parties to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions will be held back-to-back during a two-week period from 28 April to 10 May 2013 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The objective of holding the meetings in a coordinated manner is to strengthen the implementation of the three conventions at the national, regional and global levels, promote coherent policy guidance and enhance efficiency in the provision of support to parties. Holding the meetings back-to-back will, at the same time, allow for a more effective and coherent decision-making on policy, technical and budget matters, including on joint activities among the conventions and other specific matters, which will help identify new concrete areas where synergies can be achieved. This approach will also result in significant cost savings.
The precise schedule of the meetings will be determined by the bureaux of the conferences of the parties (COPs) to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions.
