Environment:
What's Up in #GENeva this week?

11 March - 17 March 2019

Human Rights & Environment

The 40th Session of the Human Rights Council (HRC40) is ongoing in Geneva. Various events discussing environmental-related issues are taking place during this four-weeks session (follow live on UNTV).

Parallel to the March session of the UN Human Rights Council, the International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights (FIFDH)  has been taking place in Geneva for the past 16 years. The 17th edition started on 8 March, with various films on the theme of environment included in the programme, and related debates.

Global Climate Strike For Future

On Friday 15 March, along with 40 countries on all continents, a Global strike For Future organized by kids will take place, aiming at showing the Climate Crisis is a Crisis. See details below for Geneva.

More on the agenda

Check the list below to see what is on the agenda this week and the job opportunities in the region.

Geneva experts & officials in Nairobi attending the UN Environment Assembly

The fourth session of the UN Environment Assembly is gathering in Nairobi, Kenya from 11-15 March 2019, under the theme Innovative Solutions for Environmental Challenges and Sustainable Consumption and Production. The Assembly is bringing together over 4,700 heads of state, ministers, business leaders, senior UN officials & civil society representatives to take decisions that move global societies to a more sustainable path. (follow ENB coverage)

Very sadly, we fear the loss of colleagues, delegates and members of the UN family, planning to join the assembly, in the crash of the Ethiopian Airlines flight.
