What's Up in #GENeva this week?

Join World Environment Day Celebrations in Geneva!

Various events are taking place this week in Geneva to celebrate World Environment Day.

Monday 3 June, the High-Level Dialogue "Beat Air Pollution: The Need for a Multi-Level Response", organized within the Geneva Environment Network framework, will discuss with key stakeholders based in the region, the successful experiences that need to be scaled-up to tackle air pollution at the global, regional, national and local levels, as a major contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The event will take place at the International Environment House on Monday 3 June, from 12:00-13:30, and followed by a reception offered by the local authorities.

Tuesday 4 June, visit an air pollution monitoring station& learn about the measures taken at vaious levels to beat air pollution (10:00-12:00, Rue Necker).

Wednesday 5 June, join the film screening of Anote's Ark and debate, co-organized with the Graduate Institute. Set against the backdrop of international climate negotiations and the fight to recognise climate displacement as an urgent human rights issue, Anote’s Ark presents personal stories that serve as cautionary tales for the entire world. (18:30, Maison de la Paix).

Thursday 6 June, join the 7th edition of the World Environment Day Pub Quiz. Register your team for the Quiz Prizes include lunches with personalities keeping environmental issues high on the agenda in Geneva.

All week, celebrating the centenary of the ILO with the Green Week, featuring exhibitions, dialogues with practitioners, innovators, and strategic partners and a presentation of programmes and initiatives of the ILO in the field of environmental sustainability.

Tuesday 4 June and Wednesday 5 June, Eldora cafeterias will propose a World Environment Day Menu.

Through to #WorldEnvironmentDay on 5 June, UN Environment is calling on everyone to join the Mask Challenge. Face masks are a great symbol to show leaders we want to breathe clean air.

2019 Geneva Forum on climate change at the Human Rights Council

The 2019 Geneva Forum will seek to review the contributions of ten years of work on climate-related issues by the Human Rights Council and related processes focussing on lessons learned and opportunities for further engagement by the Council.
