Mario Boccucci is the Head of the UN-REDD Programme Secretariat.

Mario Boccucci joined UN-REDD in 2013 and is currently the Head of the UN-REDD Programme Secretariat. He is passionate about climate change and sustainable development. In his early career, he was involved with the European Commission, the Italian Department for Environment, FAO and the University of Florence in the field of land management and agriculture.

In 2000, Mario joined the World Bank, working in Indonesia and in the US on integrated conservation and development, on forest governance and on climate change linked to forest. Subsequently, he joined the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and continued his work on forests.

Mario holds a Master in Tropical and Subtropical Agricultural Sciences from the University of Florence.
