Senior Policy Advisor on International Environmental Policy
Sebastian König is a Senior Policy Advisor on International Environmental Policy at the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) and is Switzerland’s Focal Point for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
Prior to his current position, Sebastian was the Science Officer and Project Manager at FOEN, leading a large capacity building project in 10 developing and emerging countries in Africa, South America, Central and Southeast Asia. He also led the national coordination of climate relevant and environmental observations in Switzerland and supported and represented Swiss delegations at national and international panels.
Sebastian holds a Ph.D. in Climate Change from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, USA, a master’s degree in Climatology and Meteorology from the University of Bern, Switzerland, and a post-graduate management certificate from Cornell University, USA.
