Alexandra Bilak is the Director of the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC)

Alexandra has 20 years of experience in the international non-profit sector with subject matter expertise in displacement and migration, conflict and post-crisis recovery, policy and planning. Wide practical experience of programme design and implementation, data systems, policy development, strategic partnerships and diplomatic engagement.

As Director of IDMC, she is responsible for the strategy, positioning and resource mobilisation of the organisation, for growing its reach and influence and for establishing strategic partnerships with governments, UN agencies, regional organisations and other relevant stakeholders. Created and now direct the publication of IDMC’s flagship report the Global Report on Internal Displacement (GRID).

Prior to IDMC, Alexandra served as Country Director and Programme Manager for international NGOs and research institutes in sub-Saharan Africa, including Oxfam, the Life & Peace Institute, the International Rescue Committee and the Danish Refugee Council. Operational experience in Central, East and West Africa. Lived and worked in Rwanda in 2001, the Democratic Republic of Congo from 2004 to 2008, and Kenya from 2009 to 2014. Bilingual French-English, fluent in Dutch.
