Arthur Dahl is the President of the International Environment Forum.

Arthur Dahl is the President of the International Environment Forum. Previously, he served as Deputy Assistant Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). He lectures widely and contributes to courses at various universities and online. He has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Brighton, UK, and co-coordinated the UNEP Major Groups and Stakeholders Advisory Group on International Environmental Governance. He has consulted with UNEP, the World Bank, the World Economic Forum and other international organizations on indicators of development and sustainability, environmental assessment and observing strategies, coral reefs, biodiversity, islands, and environmental education.

A specialist on coral reefs and small island developing States (SIDS), he spent many years in the South Pacific and organized the Pacific Regional Environment Programme. He has published many scientific papers and books including: Island Directory, Unless and Until: A Baha’i Focus on the Environment, The Eco Principle: Ecology and Economics in Symbiosis, and In Pursuit of Hope: A Guide for the Seeker. Most recently, he has worked with two colleagues on global governance and reform of the UN system, winning the New Shape Prize of the Global Challenges Foundation in 2018, and with a book “Global Governance and the Emergence of Global Institutions for the 21st Century” being published by Cambridge University Press in January 2020.
