Marianna Bolshakova is the Regional Coordinator for Environmental Law and Governance at UNEP Europe Office. She joined UNEP in 2020 after 10 years as Legal Officer with the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change where she supported the negotiations process, including the drafting of the Paris Agreement and its implementing framework, and coordinated work on the compliance mechanisms. Before this, Marianna worked at the UN Economic Commission for Europe on environmental governance, treaty compliance regimes, education for sustainable development and the sustainable development initiatives. Prior to joining the UN in 2003, she managed multi-country environmental policy projects for the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe. Marianna started her legal career at the first public interest environmental advocacy in Ukraine in 1995. She holds LLM degrees in Civil Law and in Comparative Constitutional Law.
