Nalini Sharma is the Senior Coordinator of the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM).

Nalini Sharma joined the Chemicals and Health Branch of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in 2015 and has been responsible for making the Special Programme on Institutional Strengthening for Chemicals and Waste Management operational and leading its implementation. Nalini has been with UNEP for 15 years, having worked with the Ecosystems Division as Office in Charge of the Biodiversity Unit, and playing a key role in UN Environment’s work on the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), including hosting the interim IPBES Secretariat. During her time with the Division of Early Warning and Assessment she supported the Global Environment Outlook assessments and spearheaded capacity building on integrated environmental assessments.

Nalini holds a master’s degree in Environmental Economics and Environmental Management from the University of York, UK.
