With 768 hectares, Vernier is, in area, the eighth municipality of the Canton of Geneva. Its 35,300 inhabitants make it the second most populous municipality in the canton, behind the City of Geneva, and allow it to occupy the sixteenth rank of the municipalities and cities of Switzerland.
