Contribute to the preparation of UNEP 2021 Global Report on Environmental Rule of Law

UNEP is providing two opportunities to contribute to the preparation of the UNEP 2021 Global Report on Environmental Rule of Law (2021 Global Report).

Consultancies

UNEP is assembling contributing authors for the four substantive chapters of the report. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply to one or more of the paid consultancies by 12 September 2020.

Researchathon

UNEP is also hosting a “Researchathon” – a public call for inputs to solicit good practices related to the promotion and implementation of the environmental rule of law – to be included in the 2021 Global Report as appropriate.  Contributors will be acknowledged in the report, if they consent.

The term “good practice” for the purposes of this initiative is defined broadly to include any law, policy, case, institution, practice or initiative that contributes to positive environmental outcomes and/or effective environmental governance. Good practices can be implemented by a wide range of actors, including all levels and branches of government, international organizations, civil society, communities and individuals, as well as the private sector. The practice identified should be substantiated by evidence that demonstrates how the practice facilitates the promotion and implementation of the environmental rule of law within the context of one or more of the above five topics (i.e. (1) laws, (2) institutions, (3) civic engagement, (4) rights and (5) justice).

Any interested individuals and organizations are encouraged to submit inputs by 15 November 2020:
