Droits humains et environnement
Tous les êtres humains dépendent de l’environnement dans lequel ils vivent. Un environnement sûr, propre, sain et durable est indispensable à la pleine jouissance d’un large éventail des droits de l’homme, y compris des droits à la vie, à la santé, à l’alimentation, à l’eau et à l’assainissement. Sans environnement sain, nous ne pouvons satisfaire nos aspirations ni même vivre à un niveau proportionné aux normes minimales de dignité humaine. Protéger les droits de l’homme participe à la protection de l’environnement. Lorsque les individus peuvent connaître les décisions qui les concernent et participer à leur élaboration, ils peuvent contribuer à garantir que ces dernières respectent leur besoin d’un environnement durable.
