Adam Day is Head of the Geneva Office of the United Nations University Centre for Policy Research (UNU-CPR) and Research Lead for the UN Secretary-General’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).
Adam Day oversees UNU-CPR programming on climate-security, human rights, peacebuilding, global governance and sanctions, with a particular focus on the intersection of environmental stress and conflict.
He serves as Research Lead for the UN Secretary-General’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), an independent body that advises UN leaders on breakthroughs in science and technology — assessing how to harness their benefits and mitigate potential risks across areas including biology, artificial intelligence and environmental sciences such as small modular nuclear reactors, carbon dioxide removal, deep-sea mining and geoengineering.
Prior to joining UNU in 2017, Adam Day served for a decade across multiple UN field missions and headquarters departments, and has worked with Human Rights Watch, the Open Society Justice Initiative, and as an international litigator in New York. He has published widely on climate-security, global governance, human rights and peacebuilding.
