Kei Ohno Woodall is a Programme Officer for the Science and Technical Assistance Branch and the Governance Branch at the Rotterdam Convention Chemical (BRS).

Kei is a Programme Officer for the Science and Technical Assistance Branch and the Governance Branch. She coordinates scientific work of the Stockholm Convention POPs Review Committee and the Rotterdam Convention Chemical Review Committee and supports the process for reviewing and listing new chemicals under the conventions. Her expertise includes industrial chemicals and waste management, developing inventories and national implementation plans, risk assessment and environmental monitoring. Since the adoption of the Basel Convention Plastic Waste Amendments in 2019, Kei has been the overall coordinator of the plastics related work of the BRS, leading several technical assistance projects including the BRS-Norad projects and the Small Grant Programme of the regional centers. She leads “From Science to Action” programme of the BRS to enhance science-policy interface.

Prior to joining the Secretariat in 2007, Kei was a consultant for the Ministry of Environment Japan specialized in international relations, environmental awareness and policy analysis for chemicals management. She holds a PhD and a Master of Science degree in the field of environmental analytical chemistry and organic geochemistry from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. She is a Japanese national.
