Laurence Boisson de Chazournes is a Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Geneva.

Laurence Boisson de Chazournes is a Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Geneva since 1999. She is responsible for the master’s degree in International Dispute Settlement as well as teaching courses in international law, international organizations’ law, dispute settlement law (ICJ, law of the sea, arbitration), international environmental law, and international economic law.

From 1995 to 1999, she was the Principal Advisor to the World Bank from where she was charged of international law, institutional law and international environmental law issues. In addition, she works as an expert and advisor to countries, international organizations (UN, WHO, ILO, WB, UNESCO, WTO), associations and NGOs. She was also a member of the Advisory Board of the Human Rights Council from 2011 to 2017 as well as of the High-level Panel on Water and Peace (2015-2017). Currently, she is Acting President of the Mixed Advisory Board of the OECD.

Laurence was awarded the Elisabeth Haub prize in environmental law in 2008 and received a Ph.D. honoris causa from the University of Aix-Marseille in 2014. In 2016, she was the recipient of the “Inspirational Women in Geneva Working for the Environment” award.
