Sara Venturini is the Chief of Member Services at the Group on Earth Observations (GEO).

Sara Venturini is the Chief of Member Services, a newly established unit that will focus on engagement and serving our current and prospective Members – a strong focus of the GEO’s Post-2025 Strategy and Ministerial Declaration endorsed by Ministers in November 2023.

She was formerly the Climate Coordinator at the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), who lead the organization’s engagement priority related to the implementation of the Paris Agreement. A development economist by training, specializing in climate change science and management, she has more 10 years of experience supporting governments and international organizations in developing policy and building governance to address climate change.

Since 2009, Sara has advised ministerial delegations to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) for both developed and developing countries on adaptation and loss and damage. She also worked closely with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as a Focal Point for Italy to promote research and systematic observations. In addition, she supported the coordination of the Italian strategy for adaptation to climate change. Later on, with Climalia, Acclimatise and UNEP, she further focused on climate adaptation planning at local, national and regional scales, as well as on capacity building to improve access to climate finance in developing countries.

Sara holds a Ph.D. from Ca’ Foscari University in Venice, Italy.
