Tobias Brosch

Tobias Brosch holds a degree in psychology from the University of Trier (Germany) and a master’s degree in cognitive psychology and neuropsychology from the University of Canterbury (United Kingdom). He completed a PhD on emotional influences on attention and perception at the University of Geneva in 2005, before moving to New York University (United States) for a postdoctoral fellowship on the neuroscience of decision-making. In 2011, he returned to the University of Geneva as a senior lecturer and then as an assistant professor. In 2015, Tobias Brosch was appointed assistant professor with conditional tenure and founded the Consumer Decision and Sustainable Behavior Lab, which he has headed ever since.

In his research, Tobias Brosch seeks to understand how cognitive, affective, and social processes influence our environmental choices and how this knowledge can be used to promote sustainable decisions and behaviors. He is actively engaged with policymakers in the field of sustainable development to integrate behavioral science knowledge into their work and promote collaboration between science and policy. He regularly consults for institutions such as the World Economic Forum, the Swiss Federal Office of Energy, and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. Tobias Brosch represents the American Psychological Association (APA), the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA) and the Swiss Federation of Psychologists (SFP) at the United Nations in Geneva.

In April 2025, Tobias Brosch was appointed full professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, where he holds the chair in sustainable development psychology.
