The Geneva Sustainability Centre, powered by the International Hospital Federation (IHF), was launched 2022 in response to the need for hospitals and healthcare services to address climate change.

The Geneva Sustainability Centre, powered by the International Hospital Federation (IHF), supports hospitals and healthcare services address the sustainability challenges of today and tomorrow.  Climate change has become the greatest threat to future health. The healthcare sector is responsible for 4.4% of global greenhouse gas emissions impacting on the determinants of health of communities. Addressing this threat needs the voice of hospitals and healthcare leaders understand the impacts on our health. It requires a commitment to get started now; and be engaged for the long term to change the ways that hospitals are lead and managed daily.

The Geneva Sustainability Centre aims to empower current and future hospital leaders with the information, tools, and skills to drive the sustainable transformation at leadership, management, and institutional levels in health care delivery. As part of a wider sustainability agenda, the centre thrives to anchor leadership for sustainability into the global healthcare sector and create long term value for people and communities.

As of April 2022, Sonia Roschnik is the Executive Director at the Geneva Sustainability Centre, leading a growing team.
