On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the entry into force of CITES, the Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations Office in Geneva and the Secretary-General of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), hosted an official reception at the Natural History Museum of the City of Geneva on 1 July 2010, from 16h00 to 18h00.

On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the entry into force of CITES, the Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations Office in Geneva and the CITES Secretary-General hosted an official reception at the Natural History Museum of the City of Geneva on 1 July 2010, from 16h00 to 18h00.
Welcoming addresses were made by:
- John Scanlon, CITES Secretary-General;
- His Excellency Mr Dante Martinelli, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva;
They were followed by interventions from:
- Her Excellency Mrs Betty E. King, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva;
- Muna Abbas Radhi, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Office and Specialized Institutions in Geneva;
- Thomas Jemmi, Deputy Director General of the Swiss Federal Veterinary Office;
- Sandrine Salerno, Mayor of the City of Geneva
The welcoming remarks and interventions were followed by the projection of a short film and a reception offered by the Swiss Government.
