This side event to the 2023 meetings of the Conferences of the Parties to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions organized by the International Pollutants Elimination Network (IPEN) with the support of the Geneva Environment Network, tried to answer the question of when recycling of waste is beneficial for the environment and when it can lead to recycling of POPs waste, which is not allowed under the Stockholm Convention.

About this Event

This side event tried to answer the question of when recycling of waste is beneficial for the environment and when it can lead to recycling of POPs waste, which is not allowed under the Stockholm Convention. The panel will also respond to the question of transboundary movement of POPs wastes and the definition of Low POPs Content levels, and provide insights into how to deal with POPs waste. Invited country representatives presented their experiences and views on these topics.
