This event will launch and present the book "Birds of the Lobito Wetlands" by the Angolan Citizen Fernanda Renée Samuel, The Voice for Wetlands.

About the Event

Angolan environmentalist Fernanda Renée Samuel was awarded the Ramsar Wetland Convention Award for Young Wetlands Champions, in 2022. Focused on the protection, conservation and restoration of wetlands, particularly mangroves, Fernanda Renée not only inspired thousands of young people, but also attracted leaders and various public and private institutions to join the protection of mangroves.

Fernanda Samuel was also selected as a Finalist for the Young Champions of the Earth 2020 by UNEP. Her commitment to environmental stewardship has earned her widespread recognition, and her influence extends to the highest levels of government, as she was appointed by the President of the Republic of Angola as a Member of the Council of the Republic for environmental matters.

This event convened by the Permanent Mission of Angola to the United Nations in Geneva, and the Convention on Wetlands, with the support of the Geneva Environment Network, will launch and present the book « Birds of the Lobito Wetlands » by Fernanda Renée Samuel, The Voice for Wetlands.
