In the context of the Special Rapporteur on Climate Change´s report on “Transforming food systems” to the HRC 62nd session (A/HRC/62/44), this event connects communities’ lived experiences of climate change and corporate impunity´s impacts on the right to food with action, calling for a human rights-based transformation of food systems and aiming to combat climate change.
About this Event
Industrial food corporations, backed by fossil fuels and petrochemicals, drive climate harm, environmental degradation, and human rights violations and abuses. Weak regulation and corporate influence can often enable them to evade accountability, increase their power, and control resources, worsening emissions, pollution, and loss of livelihoods for impacted communities.
