Jessica Battle

Jessica Battle is the Senior Expert on Global Ocean Policy and Governance and Lead Deep Seabed Mining Initiative at WWF.
Jessica Battle has more than 20 years of experience in the field of marine policy. She joined WWF in 2001 serving in various roles such as Communications for Global Marine Programme, Programme Manager for Ocean Governance, Marine Programme Manager, and Global Ocean Policy Manager. In 2017, she started working as Senior Global Ocean Policy and Governance Expert and, in 2019, as Lead Deep Seabed Mining Initiative.
Prior to joining WWF, Jessica was a freelance writer and editor for a Swedish communication agency and as a field assistant at Uppsala University and the University of Dar Es Salaam.
She holds an Master in Biology from Uppsala University, in addition to diplomas in environmental policy, international ocean law and policy, and journalism.
