The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB) is a global initiative focused on mainstreaming the values of biodiversity and ecosystem services into decision-making.
It aims to underline the value of ecosystems and biodiversity by recognizing the value of ecosystems, landscapes, species and other aspects of biodiversity, by demonstrating their values in economic terms, and by suggesting, where appropriate, how to capture those values in decision-making.
The TEEB Initiative was launched in 2007, when G8+5 environment ministers called for a global initiative to study the economics of biodiversity loss.
