Organization: Geneva Environment Network

The launch of the Trade and Green Economy Handbook, a joint publication of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) was organized on Tuesday 28 April at the Auditorium Jacques-Freymond. A high-level panel discussed new and emerging issues at the intersection of international trade and environment in the context of the post-2015 development agenda.

The Handbook highlights and explains the complex linkages between green economy and trade. It is written in easily accessible language for policy makers and other stakeholders who are pursuing a transition to an inclusive green economy and who might not be experts in international trade law or international economics.

This third edition has been updated to cover a wealth of new information, including the emergence of the green economy concept, recent WTO jurisprudence, the rise of regional and bilateral trade agreements, and the changing dynamics of international trade within global value chains. The Handbook was released in English, French, Spanish, and Chinese.
