The Comunità Papa Giovanni XXIII (Pope John XXIII Community) is an international association of the faithful pontifical right, founded in 1968 by Father Oreste Benzi and since then actively and continuously committed to combating marginalization and poverty.
A core part of APG23’s mission is sharing their lives with the least fortunate, rather than just providing services. Present in over 40 countries across five continents, it operates hundreds of family homes, emergency shelters, therapeutic communities for drug addiction, and cooperatives.
APG23 participates in the work of the United Nations with Special Consultative Status at ECOSOC, acting as a spokesperson for the concerns of the poorest among the world’s leaders. It contributes to the work of the Human Rights Council, Universal Period Review and Treaty Bodies through the APG23 International Office in Geneva.
