A briefing to Permanent Missions on recent developments under the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions and the organization of the ordinary and extraordinary meetings of the conferences of the parties to the conventions, to be held back-to-back from 28 April to 10 May 2013 in Geneva, was organized at the International Environment House on Friday 12 April. Over 1000 participants, including representatives of 148 Governments, will be attending the conferences and more than 70 Ministers have registered to attend the high-level segment.

In light of the importance of the events, the Secretariat of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions wished to assist Permanent Missions in Geneva with their preparations. Updated information was provided on final practical arrangements, the schedule of work and substantive matters of each of the conferences and other meetings being organized in the margins of the conferences. The briefing also covered latest provisions and the detailed programme for the high-level segment, to be held on 9 and 10 May.
