L'innovation est essentielle pour trouver des solutions durables aux défis économiques et environnementaux. La réalisation de cet objectif nécessite une action audacieuse pour promouvoir des infrastructures et des industries durables, pour améliorer la recherche technologique et pour favoriser l'accès universel aux technologies de l'information et des communications.
